The coronavirus pandemic has laid Brazil's profound social inequalities bare. In the poorest areas, precarious living conditions and lack of access to essential services make it impossible to comply with preventive and social distancing measures, increasing the risk of infection and exacerbating the social, health and economic damages caused by the pandemic.
