The Trussel Trust was founded to provide emergency food in times of crisis.
In the UK, there are more than 14 million people living in poverty, and within 4.5 million of them are children.
The Trussel Trust supports a network of food banks which provide emergency food to people in crisis, and additional support to help tackle the root causes that sweep people into poverty and build people’s resilience so they are less likely to need a food bank in the future. From 2018 to 2019, they’ve provided a record 1.6 million food supplies to people in crisis, a 19% increase on the previous year.
They bring together the expertise of food banks in our community to challenge the structural economic issues that lock people in poverty, and campaign to end the need for food banks in the UK.
At LAUT, we know it takes more than food to end poverty. We hope, by supporting the Trussell Trust, that people in desperate need can get through this crisis, and look forward to a brighter future.
