Sant’Egidio is a Christian community born in 1968 in a secondary school in the centre of Rome. With the years, it has become a network of communities in more than 70 countries of the world. The Community pays attention to the periphery and peripheral people, gathering men and women of all ages and conditions, united by free commitment for the poor and peace.

Prayer, poor and peace are its fundamentals points of reference.

In the face of the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, they’ve initiated a coronavirus emergency scheme to cushion anyone against the pandemic, especially the most fragile and vulnerable people.

Their volunteers continue to visit people living on the street bringing them not only food, but also useful products to protect themselves from infection (such as gels and disinfectant tissues). Their soup kitchens remain open by observing the precautionary measures with regard to the number of people, the distance between them and hygiene. This service is indispensable - particularly the homeless people - for all those who risk to receive less aid and support due to movement restrictions.

Although contagion is physically distancing us, we believe their perseverance and dedication to helping the needed has united all of the people in the community. By supportingSant’Egidio, we hope Sant’Egidio can continue to keep their soup kitchens open and send more medical supplies to people in need.
